Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst dropped its second straight one-goal game to start the season, bowing 2-1 to visiting East Stroudsburg Saturday at Tullio Field. The Lakers, 3-2 losers to visiting Bellarmine Friday, dropped to 0-2 while the Warriors won their season-opener.

After rallying from a 2-0 deficit Friday, Mercyhurst enjoyed its first lead of the season Saturday when junior forward Lauren MacEllven found the back of the net midway in the first half. The lead was short-lived, however, as the Warriors tied the game two minutes later on a goal by junior forward Ashley Kocis. ESU then tallied what proved to be the game's final goal when senior Joelle Lussi beat Mercyhurst junior netminder Julie Smith with 9:28 to play in the opening half.

The Warriors outshot Mercyhurst 21-4 and enjoyed a 9-2 edge in corner kicks. Smith went all the way for Mercyhurst while ESU used junior Miranda Fountain between the pipes in the first half and junior Katie Fox in the second.

East Stroudsburg will stay in Erie to play Bellarmine Sunday at Tullio Field. The Lakers will rest until Wednesday when another PSAC school, Mansfield, visits for a 4:00pm contest. Mercyhurst plays its first six games of the season at home.
