Stacey Gaudette took over as field hockey coach in January 2003 and has compiled a five year mark of 37-48.
In Gaudette's five seasons at Mercyhurst, the Lakers have finished with nine wins three times. Despite a disappointing 4-12 mark in 2007, the Lakers have finished at .500 twice in her other four seasons. Since becoming a program in 1997, Mercyhurst as played all 11 seasons as an independent. Gaudette, however, will lead the team into the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in 2008. She also needs just 10 wins to become the program's all-time winningest coach. Prior to Mercyhurst, Gaudette served as Head Coach at Susquehanna Township High School. She organized a winter league and spring hockey for the school and instituted a summer play-day program. She also ran a winter and spring instructional program for elementary-aged players from the area - the Future Stars program.
Gaudette served as the President of the Mid-Penn Coaches Association and was also an umpire in the Mid-Penn Chapter. She was the Head Coach/Site Director for the Harrisburg and Hershey USFHA Futures Program and also served as a selector for the National Futures Tournament. She is a current member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association and also works with the East Coast Field Hockey club/camp program during the summer.
Before going into high school coaching and teaching, Gaudette served as the Assistant Coach at the University of New Hampshire. She was the assistant director of the UNH summer camps. Her primary focus on the field was with the defense and goalkeeping. She also assisted in recruiting, fundraising, and player development. She served as the Northeast Region Head Goalkeeper coach for the USFHA Futures program, as well as a field player coach at the New Hampshire Futures site.
Gaudette played her collegiate field hockey at the University of New Hampshire. She was a four-year starter for the Wildcats. At one point, she was also the leading scorer, having scored six goals on penalty strokes. Simultaneously, she was a member of the US National Team Squad. She began playing at A Camp her junior year in high school and participated in two Olympic Festivals. She continued to play in the National Program until 1992.
Gaudette graduated from UNH with a degree in political science with a concentration in Sociology.
