Julie Anderson Named First Team All-Conference Again
March 1, 2007 Bay City, Mich. - Mercyhurst senior forward Julie Anderson was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive year on Thursday. Anderson, who ranks among the all-time leaders at Mercyhurst in scoring, rebounding, steals and free-throw shooting, was named to the five person first-team. She joined four other seniors on the squad in Gannon's Casey England and Christina Jackson, Hillsdale's Lauren Fewins, and Ashland's Amber Rall. Anderson finished fourth in the GLIAC in scoring (16.7 points), second in rebounding (8.7 boards), fourth in free-throw shooting (82.8 percent), and led the conference in steals (2.85). She also rated second in offensive rebounds (3.11) and fifth in minutes played (34.52). She finished her four year career at Mercyhurst among the all-time leaders in a number of categories, including career points (fifth with 1,465), career rebounds (fourth with 766), career steals (third with 244), and career free-throw percentage (fifth at .821). The All-GLIAC award is added to her growing list of postseason honors this year. She has already been named ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District and ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-American.
