Julie Anderson Named First Team Academic All-American

Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst senior forward Julie Anderson was named ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-American today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Anderson was one of six players named to the College Division First Team, selected from all players at the NCAA Division II, III and NAIA levels. Anderson, who boasts a 3.98 grade point average as a Sports Medicine major, was one of two players from Region II named to the First Team.

She joins West Virginia Wesleyan's Sarah Grab on the list, as well as Augustana's Alison Adamson, Calvin's Lisa Winkle, Lewis' Mary Moskal, and Southern Maine's Ashley Marble.

As a senior, Anderson started all 27 games for the Lakers, averaging 16.7 points and 8.7 rebounds. She added 77 steals and shot 83 percent at the free-throw line. She finished her four year career at Mercyhurst among the all-time leaders in a number of categories, including career points (fifth with 1,465), career rebounds (fourth with 766), career steals (third with 244), and career free-throw percentage (fifth at .821).
