FINDLAY, Ohio - A Brittany Wells jumper in the lane as time expired broke a 58-58 tie as Mercyhurst fell in a GLIAC contest on the road.

Mercyhurst (6-19, 2-13 GLIAC South) led 58-52 with 1:34 to play after a Priscila Nascimento free throw. But Findlay (6-19, 2-13 GLIAC South), fresh off an upset of nationally ranked Grand Valley State, clawed back. Audra Mihalic hit a three with 1:19 left to cut the Laker lead to just three. After going 1-of-2 at the line with 38 ticks left, Wells hit a pair with 23 seconds to go to tie the score.

Mercyhurst held the ball for the final shot, but Megan Sellers cleared a Laker miss with five seconds left and Wells got behind the defense to hit the game-winner as time expired.

Stephanie Prischak turned in her first career double-double with 12 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Julie Anderson overcame foul trouble to add 11 points and seven rebounds. Nascimento also scored 11 and Lindsay Whipkey came off the bench for 10.

The Oilers opened the game with a 6-0 run, but Mercyhurst responded with a 10-2 run of its own to take a 10-8 lead.

Findlay had a chance to tie it before the half, but Whipkey came up with a block at the defensive end that turned into a Prischak jumper with three seconds left that made the score at the break 30-26 in favor of the Lakers.

Wells led all players with 18 points and seven assists, but the Laker defense hounded her into nine turnovers. Sellers came off the bench for 14 rebounds. Katie Greisinger scored 11 points and Mihalic had 10.

Mercyhurst held the Oilers to just 36 percent shooting, including just 3-of-19 from long range. It is the fifth consecutive opponent that Mercyhurst has held under 40 percent overall and the fourth in a row the Lakers have held to less than 27 percent from beyond the arc.

Mercyhurst will look to get back in the win column when the Lakers travel to Ashland on Saturday for a 1:00 PM contest.
