With senior Kenneth Foster and freshman Ronny Whiting leading the way, the Mercyhurst men's cross country team won the Race at the Park against Gannon Saturday for the fifth-straight year.

Foster, who has been the Lakers' top finisher in all four events this year, turned in a time of 27:42, giving him first place in the event for the second year in a row.

Whiting clocked in at 28:34 and freshman Chris Strohm finished in 28:49 to give Mercyhurst the race's top three finishers.

Gannon placed three runners in fourth, fifth and sixth, but sophomore Tomas Bolger and junior Derek Hoerner grabbed seventh and eight respectively to round out Mercyhurst's top five runners and giving them a 21-38 triumph.

Freshman Matt Allison, junior Kurtis Billig and junior Mike Humphrey placed 10th, 11th and 12th for the Lakers, as well.

Mercyhurst returns to action on Oct. 6 at the Le Moyne Invitational in Syracuse, N.Y.
