Meadville, Pa. - Senior Kenny Foster and freshman Ronny Whiting both placed in the top 10 to lead the Mercyhurst men's cross country team to a third-place finish at the Allegheny College Classic Saturday in Meadville, Pa.

Foster cruised through the 8K course with a time of 28:25.5 to finish eighth and Whiting took ninth with a time of 28:39.1. Top honors went to Washington & Jefferson's Bobby Regan, who posted a 27:47.1.

Allegheny, however, landed four runners in the top six to take first place with 31 points. Mercyhurst finished wih 82, behind Penn State-Pehrend's 53.

Junior Derek Horner took 20th with a time of 29:31.7 for the Lakers. Freshmen Matt Allison and Chris Stromm took 24th and 28th, and junior Kurtis Billig placed 29th.

The Lakers return to action on Sept. 29 with a head-to-head competition with Gannon.
