Laker Men Run At National Catholic Championships

Notre Dame, Ind. - The Mercyhurst men's cross country team competed in the 31 team National Catholic Championships Friday, placing 20th out of all teams at the event.
Running against teams at all levels, the Lakers scored 567 points to finish in 20th. Notre Dame won the event with 48 points, followed by Marquette with 58 and Duquesne with 82. The only other GLIAC school at the competition, Gannon, finished 28th with 749 points.
With 237 runners in the field, Kenneth Foster led Mercyhurst for the second consecutive week, placing 53rd in a time of 27:18. Josh Peterson was the only other Laker to break into the top 100, placing 76th with a time of 27:40. Mike Humphrey, who did not run a week ago, was 138th in 28:52 and Matt Deragon ended 160th in 29:19.
Mercyhurst will have two weeks off before competing next in the Le Moyne Invitational on September 30. |
