Men's Cross Country Places 21st at National Catholic Invitational

South Bend, Ind. - In a field that featured 35 teams and 266 runners, the Mercyhurst men's cross country team recorded a 21st-place finish at the National Catholic Cross Country Invitational hosted by Notre Dame. The Lakers finished 600 points, trailing Incarnate Word, which finished in 20th with 555. Taking first place was host Notre Dame, who placed five runners in the top 10. Duquesne finished second, 41 points behind the Fighting Irish. In all, there were 12 Division I teams competing. Senior Kenneth Foster was the top finisher for the Lakers, placing 74th with a time of 27:16. Freshman Ronny Whiting earned 84th place, running a time of 27:24. Fellow freshman Christopher Strohm ran a time of 28:27 to place 138th. Juniors Derek Hoerner and Kurtis Billig rounded out the top five for Mercyhurst, placing 175th and 193rd respectively.
