Paul Bergman joined the Laker coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 2006-07 after a four-year career with the Lakers.

Bergman was a three-year starter for Mercyhurst, posting a pair of 19-win seasons. He was also a national qualifier at 174 for Mercyhurst in 2003-04. He tallied a career-mark of 49-42, wrestling anywhere from 174-197 during his four years with the Lakers.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Mercyhurst in 2006 in business finance.
