Salem, W.Va. - Mercyhurst defeated Gannon 14-8 for third place in the Division II Easterns held at Salem International University today. With the win, the Lakers evened their season series against GU 2-2.

Mercyhurst got things going by scoring five unanswered goals in the first quarter and never relinquished the lead. Sophomore utility Kevin Riordan, junior utility Kyle Bogucki, and freshman 2m Andrew Schonhoff all scored three goals and freshman utility Jorge Montero added three assists to lead the Lakers. Senior goaltender Patrick Staab made eight saves while allowing all eight goals. He also made two steals.

In the championship game, Slippery Rock defeated host SIU, 10-8.
