Lakers top Queens at Easterns

Oct. 22, 2005

Salem, W. Va. - Mercyhurst used a 6-1 fourth quarter to break open a tied game and take a 21-16 win over Queens in the first match at the Division II Easterns.

The 21 goals are a season-high for the Lakers.

Jorge Montero led the Lakers with eight goals in the contest. Kyle Wilson and Kevin Riordan chipped in with four each. Oscar Calderon had four assists.

The two teams battled to a 5-5 tie after one period. Mercyhurst took a 12-10 lead heading into the third quarter. Queens battled back to tie the score, before the Lakers took control in the fourth.

Patrick Staab played the entire game in goal and made seven saves.

Mercyhurst Goals: Montero (8), Riordan (4), Wilson (4), Andrew Schonhoff (2), Calderon, Zach Bell, Kyle Bogucki.
Mercyhurst Assists: Calderon (4), Riordan (2), Montero (2), Schonhoff (2), Bell, Chad Ward.
