Bronx, N.Y. - The Iona Gaels handed Mercyhurst its fifth straight loss Saturday, inflicting a 14-8 defeat on the Lakers in the first of two matches at the Fordham Invitational. The Lakers, now 3-8, will battle the host Rams later today.

Mercyhurst scored twice in each quarter while Iona had four-spots in the first and third quarters and a pair of treys in the second and fourth to gradually increase the lead throughout the contest.

Freshman Jorge Montero led Mercyhurst with four goals. Freshman GK Jeff Tullis made his first career start and went all the way to suffer the setback.

Mercyhurst will battle Fordham tonight at 7:30.
