Lakers Win 8th Straight Against Gannon and W&J

Erie, Pa. - Andrew Schonhoff became Mercyhurst's all-time leading goal scorer as the Lakers defeated a pair of CWPA teams, Gannon University and Washington & Jefferson, 18-17 and 12-6 respectively. The Lakers are now 8-3 on the year.

Schonoff's record-tying goal was his fifth of the match against the Golden Knights, and his first goal in the Washington & Jefferson contest set the new Laker record with the 70th of his career.  He added two more in the match and finished the day with 72 goals.

Against Gannon, Schonhoff scored five goals with one assist, two steals and two drawn ejections. Jorge Montero had four goals, one steal, and two drawn ejections. Kyle Bogucki and Zach Bell each had three goals a piece. Kevin Riordan, Oscar Calderon, and Kane Ashton each had a goal.

Bogucki played two quarters in goal and tallied seven saves and seven goals against. Riordan was in goal for two quarters with five saves and ten goals against.

Against Washington & Jefferson, Schonhoff had three goals with two assists, one steal, and two drawn ejections. In addition, Bell had three goals, one assist, two steals, and three drawn ejections. Montero and Ashton each had two goals. Kevin Weishaar and Calderon each had a goal a piece.

In goal, Bogucki played two quarters with nine saves and two goals against. Riordan had four saves and four goals against in two quarters.

Up next for the Lakers is a home match against Penn State Behrend at 7pm on Wednesday, October 4th.
