Mercyhurst Tangles with Ball State Next Saturday in Conference Quarterfinals
April 16, 2006 Muncie, Ind. - Mercyhurst will return to work after Easter and prepare for the 2006 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) Tournament. The Lakers, 3-20 overall and the tournament's #6 seed, will visit #3 Ball State (20-6) for a quarterfinal match next Saturday, April 22, at 7 p.m. in Worthen Arena. The remainder of the tournament will be played at Loyola April 27 and 29. Mercyhurst lost twice to Ball State by identical 3-0 scores during the regular season. The most recent setback came at the Athletic Center on April 8. The Lakers, in fact, ended regular-season play with five straight defeats. On a brighter note, senior Dan Kick became Mercyhurst's all-time career assist leader with 3,467. He set the mark in a 3-2 loss at Juniata April 13. Ball State ended regular season play last night with a 3-2 loss at home to #10 Penn State. The defeat snapped a five-match winning streak. |
