Columbus, Ohio - The Mercyhurst men's volleyball team completed its regular season Saturday, losing to Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) opponent Ohio State in three games -- 30-18, 30-24, 30-24.

Jeff Hartman, Bryan Ritter, and Tim Wagner each had five kills to tie for the Laker team high. David Hatten added 25 assists and Ritter and Jordan Pierson had four digs each.

Ohio State hit .315 for the match, including a .448 clip to set the tone in the opening game. Mercyhurst never hit better than .103 in any game and finished with an .034 attack percentage.

Mercyhurst's best opportunity to pick up a victory came in game three as the Lakers battled back from an 18-12 deficit to close within two points at 22-20. Mercyhurst still trailed by just three points, 27-24, but Ohio State closed out the match with a kill from John Albertson and two from Jon Klanac.

Ohio State improved to 18-7 overall and 11-1 in MIVA play. Mercyhurst finished the regular season with a record of 5-19 overall and 1-11 in conference. The Lakers enter the MIVA tournament as the No. 6 seed and will play at Lewis in the first round Friday at 7 p.m.
