Lakers Fall to No. 15 Ball State in Three Games
March 31, 2007 Muncie, Ind. - Mercyhurst fell to No. 15 Ball State in three games, 30-23, 30-18, 30-27, in Muncie, Indiana on Saturday night. The Lakers are now 2-20 overall and 1-11 in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIVA). The Cardinals are now 14-9 overall and 6-2 in the MIVA. Game one was controlled by the Cardinals in their 30-23 victory. In game two, the Lakers battled to keep the lead at 5-3. The Cardinals battled back to tie the score at six. With a couple Cardinal errors and a kill by Jeff Hartman, the Lakers led again 9-7. The Cardinals regained control of the game with a 7-0 run, 14-9 and won the game 30-18. In game three the Lakers continued to battle but the Cardinals overcame their efforts with a 30-27 win. Dave Newman led the Lakers seven with kills, seven total blocks, and one dig. Tim Wagner also had seven kills, one service ace, one total block, and one dig. Marcus Dos Santos and Hartman had four blocks each. David Hatten led with 25 assists and eight digs. The Cardinals were led by Nick Meyer with 14 kills, one service ace, one total block, and one dig. Justin Orr had seven kills, three service aces, one total block, and one dig. The Lakers take on St. Francis (Pa.) on Thursday, April 5th at 7:00 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. |
