IPFW Takes Mercyhurst in Three Games

Fort Wayne, IN - Mercyhurst fell to IPFW in three games, 30-20, 30-23, 30-19, on Friday night in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Lakers are now 2-19 overall and 1-10 in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA). The Mastodons are now 14-7 overall and 5-3 in the MIVA.

The Mastodons led game one wire-to-wire, but the Lakers battled for game two. Mercyhurst went up 3-1 to start the second game. The Mastodons came back to tie the match at four and the Lakers went on an 8-5 run to lead 12-9. Then the Mastodons came back to tie the game at 12 all and never relinquished the lead through game three.

Tim Wagner led the Lakers with nine kills. Marcus Dos Santos had eight kills while Mike Palaschak and Dave Newman had four kills each. Jordan Pierson and Dos Santos had five kills a piece.

The Mastodons were led by C.J. Macias with 14 kills and Jason Yhost with 11. Macias had six service aces. And Matt Pliske led with nine digs.

The Lakers travel to Ball State for a match at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 31st.
