Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst defeated Medaille College in four games in a non-conference face-off, 25-30, 30-26, 30-17, and 30-19. The Lakers improved their record to 3-15 overall and the Mavericks fell to 12-14 overall.

The Lakers were led by junior Mike Palaschak who had 15 kills, two digs, and 12 block assists to tally 21 points. He hit for .385 in the match. Palaschak recorded a career high with the 15 kills and also the 12 block assists. The 12 block assists also tied a school record which was held by Ahmed Omerhodzic which he recorded on January 15, 2000 against South Hampton.

Also for the Lakers, Senior Nate Keegan recorded 14 kills, two aces, ten digs, and five total blocks for 19 points. Freshman Tim Wagner had eight kills, four kills, six digs, and two block assists for 13 points. Also freshman Chad Proudman contributed ten kills, two aces, and three digs for 12.5 points. Senior setter Dan Kick had six kills, 38 assists, ten digs, and nine total blocks for 11 points.

The Mavericks were led by Erik Hartman who had 15 kills, eight digs, and four block assists for 17 points. Mark Steinel had ten kills, three aces, and five digs for 13 points. Setter Drew Lewandowski had 39 assists and three digs.

As a team, the Lakers hit for .256 in the match and had 19.5 total blocks.

Up next for the Lakers is the second match of their five match home stand on Friday, March 31 against St. Francis (Pa.) at 7:00 pm in the Mercyhurst Atheltic Center.
