Lakers Lose To Quincy In MIVA Contest
Feb. 23, 2007 Quincy, Ill. - One day after getting its first win of the season, the Mercyhurst men's volleyball team was unable to defeat MIVA foe Quincy. The Lakers battled early, but lost 34-32, 30-22, 30-20. Mercyhurst was unable to find much rhythm with its attack, hitting just .087 for the match. Although Dave Newman had 10 kills and a team-high .368 hitting percentage, the Lakers were unable to get on top in a tight opening game. Mercyhurst did out-block Quincy, finishing with 6.0 blocks to 4.5. Mike Palaschak and Newman ended with three blocks apiece. Quincy improves to 2-7 on the year and 1-3 in MIVA play, while Mercyhurst falls to 1-12 overall and 0-7 in conference. The Lakers will play at Clarke College Saturday at 5:00 p.m. before playing at Quincy again Sunday at 3:00 p.m. |
