Wilberforce, Ohio - The Mercyhurst men's volleyball team picked up its first win of the year, defeating Central State in three games Thursday. The Lakers had little trouble in disposing of its foe, winning 30-10, 30-11, 30-7. The match was the first of four in four days on the road for Mercyhurst.

Marcus Dos Santos saw his first action as a Laker and led the squad with 11 kills and 13 points. Gary Coad added five kills and four aces for nine points. Joe Montroy and Mike Palaschak had three blocks apiece and Pete Swauger dished out 15 assists. Jordan Pierson and Ron Cierniakoski each had three aces.

The Lakers hit .321 in the match, compared to just -.081 for Central State. Marcus Fails was the only Central State player with more than a single kill, registering five.

With the win, the Lakers improve to 1-11 on the year. Mercyhurst will play at Quincy Friday in MIVA play before a match at Clarke Saturday. The Lakers will then play Quincy again on Sunday on the road.
