Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst College Athletic Director Craig Barnett announced that Terence McMahon has been hired as the interim men's and women's tennis coach. He is replacing Neil Leroy, who was relieved of his duties Tuesday.

McMahon coached men's and women's tennis at Canisius College for 10 years and also won state championships in New York as the boys and girls tennis coach at Orchard Park High School and was named Coach of the Year in 1980, 1986, and 1990. Currently he is a teaching professional at South Towns Tennis Club in Orchard Park, N.Y.

McMahon is taking over a women's tennis that is 9-2 on the year and 6-2 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The squad has three regular season contests left before competing in the GLIAC Championships Oct. 25-27. He is also taking over a men's team that is 0-1 on the year and has one fall match left before competing in its traditional spring season.
