Hersch, Krasowski Named to All-Academic Team

Aug. 3, 2006

ERIE, Pa. - Senior captain Lucas Krasowski and graduate student Dan Hersh of the Mercyhurst College men's tennis team were selected as National Scholar-Athletes by the ITA. Both players had perfect 4.0 GPAs for the term.

Kraswoski ended his college career with a four-year GPA of 3.7, while Herch had a 3.9 for the year.

Krasowski, an RIAP major, finished his career at 63-45 in singles action and was 44-39 in doubles matches. As a senior in 2005-06, he went 13-8 in singles play and 15-8 in doubles action. He was a three-time member of the GLIAC All-Academic Team and it was his second ITA Scholar-Athlete award.

Hersch (left), an Organizational Leadership major, played just one year for the Lakers, posting a 9-9 mark in singles play, while going 15-5 at No. 1 doubles.

As a team, the Lakers fell just short of earning their fifth straight All-Academic Team Award. Mercyhurst came in just under the 3.2 GPA needed to qualify.

Mercyhurst finished its season ranked No. 9 in the Great Lakes Region. The Lakers were 10-10 overall and 3-4 in GLIAC matches.
