Bay City, Mich. - Mercyhurst College men's tennis player Tim Hansson was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Freshman of the Year in voting by the conference's coaches. Hansson was also selected a first team all-conference selection and the Lakers' Mateusz Przybysz was named honorable mention all-conference.

Hansson played both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles as a freshman for the Lakers. He went 8-6 in both singles and doubles overall and finished the regular season 5-2 in singles GLIAC play. He paired up with Przybysz to go 4-3 at No. 1 doubles against conference opponents. Hansson was at his best in close matches, winning both three-setters he played this year.

Przybysz went 3-4 at No. 2 singles in GLIAC play as well as 4-3 at No. 1 doubles with Hansson. He also went 1-1 in the GLIAC Tournament in singles play and ended with a 4-6 singles record for the year. He finished 5-6 on the year in doubles play.
