Bay City, Mich. - Mercyhurst senior tennis player Mariano Fava was named GLIAC Player of the Week after leading the Lakers to a 2-0 week, clinching third place in the conference standings.

Fava went 4-0 on the week, winning two singles matches and a pair of doubles matches in GLIAC play. Fava rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles against Findlay and then defeated Wayne State's Antoine Marenaud, the No. 15 ranked player in the region, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2. In doubles play, Fava paired with teammates Lee Michael Marnik to win their 14th and 15th straight matches of the year. The combo beat Findlay 8-1 and Wayne State 8-3 as the pair moved to 19-1 on the year at No. 1 doubles.
