Bay City, Mich. - Mercyhurst College men's tennis player Lee Michael Marnik was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week after going 2-0 in doubles play and 1-1 in singles play this week against conference opponents Ferris State and Grand Valley State.

Marnik picked up a pair of victories in a 5-4 win over No. 37 Ferris State and a victory at No. 1 doubles against Grand Valley State. Against Ferris, Marnik won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and paired up with teammate Mariano Fava to win 8-5 at No. 1 doubles as the Lakers upset the Bulldogs. Fava and Marnik followed up that performance by pushing their doubles win streak to 13 with an 8-3 victory over Grand Valley State. The pair is now 17-1 on the year at No. 1 doubles.

Mercyhurst is 11-5 on the year and 3-2 in GLIAC play. The Lakers will play at Findlay April 13 at 2 p.m.
