Lakers Stumble In ITA Day Two

Indianapolis, Ind. - Mercyhurst men's tennis players Mariano Fava and Lee Michael Marnik had their hopes of an ITA Championship dashed Saturday during day two of the ITA Regional Tournament.
Playing both singles and doubles, Fava and Marnik were unable to advance past their first match of competition Saturday. Fava, seeded No. 5 in singles play, was upended by No. 12 seed Peter Grimsley of Rockhurst 7-5, 6-2. Marnik, the No. 15 seed, had a tough match with second seeded Stefan Borg of Drury, giving Borg his toughest match of the tournament, but eventually losing 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles play, Fava and Marnik were the No. 3 seed but lost to eighth seeded Francis Lam and Boris Simic of Missouri-St. Louis.
The Lakers will close the fall season with a match at Duquesne October 14 at 1 p.m. |
