Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst men's tennis team opened its fall season with a convincing 7-2 victory over Hobart College Saturday at Westwood Racquet Club.

Mercyhurst swept doubles play and then took four of six singles matches for the win.

Defending GLIAC Player of the Year Mariano Fava rolled to a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles and combined with Lee Michael Marnik to win 8-5 at No. 1 doubles. Marnik also won his No. 2 singles match 6-4, 6-4. Ronald Heurich posted a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles and Kyle King won easily 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.

Heurich and Alfredo Mortensen won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles, while King and Justin Tompkins won 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.

Mercyhurst will be back in action Sunday with a home match against Ithaca at 1 p.m.
