Mercyhurst Splits on First Day of GLIAC Tournament

Midland, Mich. - Mercyhurst lost to Lake Superior State and defeated Findlay at the opening day of the annual GLIAC Men's Tournament. Mercyhurst bowed in its quarterfinal match to Lake Superior State, 5-3, but rebounded to bounce Findlay, 5-1, in a consolation tilt. Mercyhurst is now 10-9 overall. Mariano Fava was the only unblemished Mercyhurst player Friday. Fava won both his singles matches in straight sets and teamed with Dan Hersh to win a pair of 8-4 decisions in doubles' competition. The Lakers (10-9) will play Wayne State for 5th place Saturday morning at 10:00. The Warriors (5-8) lost to Grand Valley State, 5-3, in the quarterfinals before trimming Michigan Tech, 5-0. |
