Mercyhurst Shuts Out Michigan Tech, 9-0

ERIE, Pa. - Mercyhurst won all nine matches to cruise past Michigan Tech, 9-0, in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match. Kyle King followed up a two-set sweep from the previous match by winning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6. Mariano Fava won 6-1, 6-1 at first singles. Lee Michael Marnik, Mijo Cotic and Mateusz Przbysz also won in straight sets. Ronald Heurich had to battle at No. 5 singles, but outlasted Christopher Calder to win 7-6, 3-6, 10-5. In doubles, Fava and Marnik won 8-3, Przbysz and Heurich captured a 9-7 final and Cotic and King won 8-5 at first thru third doubles, respectively. Mercyhurst improved to 10-4, while Michigan Tech dropped to 5-12. The win finished the Lakers three-match homestand, with a 2-1 record. The Lakers now hit the road for three matches, beginning March 31 at Ferris State. |
