Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst men's tennis team had little trouble defeating Lake Superior State Friday, defeating its GLIAC foe 9-0 to move to 1-1 in the conference.

Kyle King never dropped a game in winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles and pairing up with Mijo Cotic to win 8-0 at No. 3 doubles. Mariano Fava and Lee Michael Marnik improved to 14-1 in doubles play this year, winning 8-1 at the No. 1 spot. Mateusz Przybysz and Ronald Heurich made it a clean sweep at doubles with an 8-3 win at No. 2.

Fava had little trouble in a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles and Marnik followed with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2. Heurich won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5, while the two most tightly contested matches of the day came at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.

Cotic dropped the opening set 6-3 at No. 3 but bounced backed to win the second set 6-2 and won a third set super tiebreak 10-4. Przybysz won his opening set in easy fashion 6-1, but went to a tiebreak in the second set before prevailing 7-6 (7-3).

Mercyhurst, now 9-4 on the year, will host Michigan Tech Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in another GLIAC match.
