Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst men's soccer midfielder Jason Pedra (Mississauga, Ontario/St. Joseph's Academy) was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week ending October 8.

Pedra helped Mercyhurst improve to 13-2 on the season as the Lakers defeated Oakland City 4-2 and Tiffin 2-0 last week. He had an assist on Mercyhurst's first goal and then tallied the game-winner in the victory over Oakland City. In Mercyhurst's 2-0 win over Tiffin, a team which entered the game 8-1 on the year, Pedra scored the insurance goal in the 81st minute.

The award signals Mercyhurst's dominance within the GLIAC this year. The Lakers sit at the top of the conference standings at 5-0 and have now received four of the seven conference Player of the Week awards. Tyler Emerick won the award September 11, followed by Daniel Mudd on September 18, and Kurt Young on October 2.
