Mercyhurst Bounces Back with 2-1 Win Over Northwood

Midland, Mich. - The Mercyhurst Lakers men's soccer team bounced back on Fridy with a 2-1 won over GLIAC conference foe Northwood. Mercyhurst is now 1-1 in the conference and 3-3-2 on the season. The Northwood Timberwolves suffered its second defeat of the season,posting a 0-1-1 record in the GLIAC and 3-2-1 record for the season.

Freshman Billy Colton provided the offensive power against Northwood by posting both goals for the Lakers. Colton now has five goals on the season and has scored at least a goal in the last three games.

Mercyhurst started off the game right with Colton's first goal coming right after the five minute mark. The Timberwolves struck back at the 71 minute mark off a goal from senior Tyler DeLaLuz. Colton added the game winning goal two minutes later off of a penalty kick.

Mercyhurst edged out the Timberwolves in shots 13-12. Northwood held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior goalkeeper Daniel Mudd recorded three saves.

The Lakers return to the field on Sunday when it continues conference play against Saginaw Valley State. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.
