Mercyhurst Men's Soccer Blows By Oakland City 4-1
Sept. 10, 2007 Oakland City, Ind. - Sophomore Kurt Young struck again on Saturday with one goal and two assists to help the Mercyhurst Lakers men soccer team defeat Oakland City 4-1. Mercyhurst improves to 2-2-2 on the year. The Lakers got off to a fast start by scoring all four goals in the first half of the game. Young tallied the first goal off an assist from junior defender Nick Thompson. Thompson's asisst was his first points of the year, while Young has posted three goals in six games. Freshman Billy Colton scored the game winning and second goal of the match off a penalty kick. Junior Tyler Emerick added the third gaol of the match, bringing his season total to one goal and one assist. Senior defender Ilmari Niklander added the fourth and final goal of the match late in the first half. Young added his season first assists to his repertoire by assisting on both Emerick's and Niklander's goals. Young now leads the team with eight points on the year off of three goals and two assists. Oakland City's lone goal came in the second half from freshman midfielder Leonardo Villamizar. The Mercyhust Lakers return to action on Tuesday when it opens season play against Gannon. Game time is set for 4 p.m. |
