Mercyhurst Falls 1-0 to Undefeated Rockhurst

Sept. 2, 2007

Box Score

Kansas City, Mo. - The Rockhurst Hawks scored in the 84th minute on Sunday to steal the win away from the Mercyhurst Lakers. Mercyhurst falls to 1-2-1 on the year, while the Hawks climb to 4-0.

Rockhurst tallied their lone goal off of a free kick by senior Adam Johnson from 30 yards out. Johnson found the head of fellow teammate sophomore Tom Heinemann, who successfully placed the ball past Lakers' goalkeeper Daniel Mudd.

Mercyhurst earned eight shots and seven corner kicks but couldn't withstand the offense of the Hawks. The Hawks bombarded Mudd and the Laker defense with 12 shots, five being on goal, and 10 corners.

Mercyhurst did fire back in the second half with 4 out of 6 shots on goal. Senior Kyle Jackson and freshman Billy Colton combined for six shots on the day.

The Lakers hope to get back on track against Indianapolis this Friday. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
