Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst College junior Kurtis Boyd has been named a member of the Canadian Under 23 rowing team that will compete in the 2007 FISA World Rowing Under 23 Championships. The event will take place July 26-29 in Strathclyde, Scotland.

Boyd is a member of the Lightweight Men's 4-. The group is currently representing Canada in the Rowing World Cup Regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland, an event that is being used as a training tool for the team. Boyd will then take part in a seven-day training camp in Tilburg, Netherlands before heading to Scotland for the under-23 championships.

Boyd is one of two returning members in the lightweight four boat that placed eighth at last year's championships. Following the competition, he will return to Mercyhurst for his junior season.
