Rochester, N.Y. - The Mercyhurst rowing team opened its season at the Head of the Genesee Regatta, hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology.

The Lakers competed in the men's lightweight eights, finishing in second place out of three teams. Mercyhurst had a combined championship time of 29:19.10 to finish behind Western Ontario (28:10.13) and ahead of Binghamton (31:00.37).

In the AM races, Mercyhurst finished in 15:51.43, just under 30 seconds behind Western Ontario. The Lakers then rowed a 4:25.89 in the PM races with a 13:27.67 weighted time.

Mercyhurst will compete next at the Head of the Chautauqua Saturday in Chautaugua, N.Y.
