Rochester, N.Y. - The Mercyhurst men's varsity eight rowing teams placed 11th and 12th out of 26 teams at the Head of the Genesee Invitational Regatta Sunday in Rochester, N.Y. The two boats were also seventh and eighth out of 22 collegiate teams.

The event was comprised of a three-mile time trial in the morning, followed by a 1500 meter sprint in the afternoon. The 1500-meter time was multiplied by three and added to the morning time trial time for the final result.

Mercyhurst's A team had a 16:17.04 in the morning time trial and then posted a 4:44.76 in the afternoon for a combined time of 30:31.32. Mercyhurst's B team was just slightly behind with a 16:21.73 in the morning and then a 4:49.98 in the afternoon for a 30:51.67 total time.

Brown won the event with a combined time of 28:45.05 and the top collegiate time was turned in by Colgate, registering a 29:16.45. Grand Valley State finished second among collegiate teams and Rochester was third. Mercyhurst was the only collegiate entrant to place two boats in the top eight.

Mercyhurst will compete next at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Mass. on October 21.
