GRAND RIVER, Mich. - The Mercyhurst College men's and women's rowing teams combined to finish third at the Mid-American Collegiate Rowing Association (MACRA) Regatta. Mercyhurst tallied 42 points, trailing only Ohio State's 51 and Grand Valley's 48.

The men's lightweight eight remained undefeated on the year. In the preliminary rounds, the Lakers finished first in their heat and first overall with a time of 6:35.62. In the finals, Mercyhurst rowed a 6:38.23 to claim the crown,Mercyhurst's one of two first place finishes at the regatta.

Mercyhurst's other win came in the lightweight four, where the Lakers won with a time of 8:01.75.

The men's pair claimed second place overall with a time of 7:54.48.

In the varsity four+, the Laker 'A' boat won its heat and was third overall with a 7:19.27. In the Grand Final, the boat captured third of six in 7:33.28. The 'B' entry was fourth in its heat and 11th overall in 7:57.56 in the preliminaries. In the Petite Final, the 'B' boat was fifth of six in 8:08.19.

The novice four finished third overall in the finals with a time of 7:54.33. This came after placing second in its heat and second in the preliminary round with a 7:34.23.

In the varsity eight, the Lakers rowed a 6:41.89 to finish fourth in the six boat field.

Mercyhurst travels to the Dad Vail Regatta on May 11 & 12 in Philadelphia.
