OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - Mercyhurst won its heat with the fastest time of the day in the lightweight eight at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championships.

The Lakers turned in a time of 6:20 to win the heat, with Jacksonville placing second in 6:23.

In heat two, St. Joe's rowed a 6:21 to take first in the heat, eding out Georgia Tech and Grand Valley State.

All six boats will take part in the final on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

The lightweight eight will not be Mercyhurst's only boat in action, as the heavyweight eight will be in action at precisely 11:37 a.m. Mercyhurst will be in lane one, followed by Ohio, Florida Tech, Purdue and St. Joe's.
