Lakers Pick Up Two Wins at Knecht Cup
April 15, 2007 CAMDEN, N.J. - Mercyhurst won both the Lightweight Eight and the Varsity Eight races, the only two races the Lakers competed in, at the Knecht Cup. The race was hosted by Villanova. The Lakers defeated an all Division I field in the Lightweight Eight. Mercyhurst posted a 6:14.9, nearly 12 seconds faster than second place Georgia Tech. The Lakers also beat teams from Boston College, Lehigh and Lafayette. In the Varsity Eight, Mercyhurst picked up a win by over 41 in the Division II/III race. A 6:18.4 easily outpaced the crews from Susquehanna and The College of New Jersey. The Lakers head to Oak Ridge, Tennessee for the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Regatta on April 22. |
