Mercyhurst Opens Season at Knecht Cup with Mixed Results
April 10, 2006
Camden, N.J. - The Lakers began the 2006 season with some tough racing at the Knecht Cup Saturday and Sunday, April 8 and 9. With over 60 teams in attendance, it was one of the largest competitions on the racing calendar. For many schools it was their 5th race, but for the Lakers it was their first and they came out a little flat. The women's open eight finished with a team best 2nd place behind NCAA regional foe Dowling college. Temperatures were in the low 40s with intermittent rain and a strong crosswind. Most races were forced to use floating starts. Some events were delayed while others were cancelled.
