FINDLEY LAKE, N.Y. - Mercyhurst overcame sub-freezing temperatures, white-outs and howling winds to sweep four races on its home lake at the Mercyhurst Invitational.

In the Varsity 8, the Lakers lightweight boat was first, taking a 6:34.32, less than 10 seconds ahead of Mercyhurst's other entry in the race, which finished second in 6:44.06. Both boats easily outdistanced the competition from Buffalo and Cleveland State.

In the Lightweight 4, two more Laker entries battled to the finished before the 'A' boat edged the 'B' by less than a length. The 'A' boat completed the course in 7:33.47, with the 'B' right on its heels at 7:36.90. The 'B' boat had open water between it and the entries from both Buffalo and Cleveland State.

The Lakers cruised to a win in the Novice 4, winning by nearly a minute and a half over Buffalo. Mercyhurst rowed an 8:02.60.

The Novice 8 saw Mercyhurst win by almost exactly one minute, with the Lakers 7:01.88 taking the win over Buffalo's 8:01.84.

Next weekend, Mercyhurst travels to the Knecht Cup in Camden, New Jersey on April 14-15.
