Varsity Pair Wins at Marietta
March 31, 2007 MARIETTA, Ohio - The Mercyhurst College men's rowing team opened its spring season at the Marietta Invitational, competing four races, including a victorious team in the Varsity Pair. The Lakers captured a win by three and a half lenghts in the Varsity Pair with a time of 5:17.84, defeating three pairs from Marietta and on from Cincinnati. The Lakers' Varsity 8 placed second in its heat and fifth overall with a time of 5:21.27. In the Varsity 8 Grand, the Lakers were third behind Marietta and Dayton, the only two other schools to break five minutes. Mercyhurst rowed a 4:57.10 in the event to finish behind only the hosts and the Flyers. In the Varsity 4 race, Mercyhurst's 6:07.40 was good for third overall. Mercyhurst won the JV eight by over eight seconds with its time of 5:01.20, nearly breaking five minutes in the process. The Lakers return home to host the Mercyhurst Invitational on April 7 at Findley Lake, New York. |
