LaShomb Named Division II Goalie Of The Year, All-American

Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst College junior Jason LaShomb was named United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Goalie of the Year this weekend during the NCAA Lacrosse Championships. LaShomb is the first player in program history to receive the USILA's Kelly Award as the Outstanding Goalie in Division II. LaShomb has started every game in goal over the past two seasons for the Lakers, compiling a record of 22-6 during that time. In 2008, he was 9-4 and ranked third in the country with a 6.52 goals against average. His .601 save percentage with fifth in Division II. LaShomb's signature game of the 2008 season came against conference opponent C.W. Post, a team ranked No. 4 in the country at the time of the contest. He made a career-high 17 saves and allowed only one goal as the Lakers stunned the Pioneers 8-1. LaShomb was named Division II Nike/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week and East Coast Conference Player of the Week following that contest. Along with the awards already mentioned, LaShomb has been named first team all-conference twice and has been the ECC Goalie of the Week seven times during his career. He was named second team All-American in 2007 and first team All-American this year. |
