Lakers End Season Ranked No. 1
May 7, 2007 Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team ended the season ranked No. 1 by the United State Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, taking the top spot for the fifth straight week, including a unanimous No. 1 for the second consecutive week. Mercyhurst completed its season with a 15-7 win over East Coast Conference opponent Adelphi, a victory which gave the Lakers sole possession of the league championship. Mercyhurst went 12-1 overall and 6-0 in conference play. The Lakers will host No. 3 NYIT in the NCAA Division II Final Four on May 19 or 20. The Lakers received all nine first-place votes for a total of 180 points. Le Moyne is No. 2 with 170 points and will host No. 4 Limestone in the other Final Four game. NYIT picked up 163 votes and Limestone had 146. Dowling ended the season ranked No. 5, followed by Bryant, C.W. Post, Molloy, St. Andrews Presbyterian, and Wingate.
