Graham, Gurtler, and Lundin Named to Atlantic Hockey Honor Roll

Feb. 4, 2008

Wakefield, Mass. - Mercyhurst sophomore forward Neil Graham, freshman winger Mike Gurtler, and junior goaltender Matt Lundin were named to the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) Honor Roll today. All three were instrumental in 6-3 and 2-1 conference wins at Holy Cross last weekend.

Graham stretched his scoring streak to four games with a three-point weekend. He assisted on second period go-ahead and game-winning goals in Friday's come-from-behind 6-3 win at Holy Cross and scored his first career shorthanded goal late in the second period Saturday in a 2-1 win.

Gurtler had a three-point weekend (two goals and an assist) as well. Gurtler's 6th goal of the season put Mercyhurst ahead 3-2 in Friday's game and he later assisted on the game-winning goal. He scored his first career power play goal in Saturday's second period to tie the game at 1-1. The line of Gurtler, Graham, and sophomore Chris Risi produced four goals and four assists over the weekend.

Lundin stopped a combined 53 of 57 shots (.930) at Holy Cross. He also recorded his first career assist Saturday which came on the game-winning shorthanded goal in the second period. He stopped all 13 Holy Cross shots in Saturday's third period to protect a 2-1 lead.

Mercyhurst, 9-6-5 in the conference and 7-1-3 in its last eleven conference games, is tied for fourth in the tightly-packed league. The Lakers will play second-place Air Force at the Ice Center this Friday and Saturday nights at 7:35 and 7:05 respectively. Mercyhurst trails both Air Force and Army by a point and first-place RIT by only three. The Lakers have eight conference games left in the regular season.
