Reynolds Scores Twice as Lakers Defeat Canisius, 4-3

Buffalo, N.Y. - Senior captain Scott Reynolds scored twice, including the game-winner at 15:22 of the third period, to lead Mercyhurst 4-3 over Canisius Saturday night. With the win, the Lakers improved to 11-6-0 overall and 10-2-0 in the AHA, while the Golden Griffins dropped to 5-10-1, 3-8-1, respectively.

Senior forward Erik Johnson scored a short-handed goal to put the Lakers up 2-1. Senior forward Dave Borrelli was the other goal scorer for Mercyhurst. Sophomore Ben Cottreau added two assists.

Junior Mike Ella made 33 saves for his seventh win (7-3-0), while freshman Dan Giffin stopped 24 as he dropped to 1-4-0.

It was a very rough game as Mercyhurst was called for 16 penalties for 48 minutes, while Canisius was whistled for 19 penalties for 81 minutes. Canisius outshot the Lakers 36-28.

Mercyhurst is off until the New Year, as it travels to West Point, N.Y., for two games at Army on January 6 and 7. Friday's game, scheduled at 8:00pm, is the CSTV Game of the Week.
