Brendan Flood To Compete On Nationwide Tour

Findley Lake, N.Y. - 2007 Mercyhurst graduate Brendan Flood has received a sponsors' exemption to compete in the Peek'n'Peak Classic June 28 through July 1 as part of the Nationwide Tour. Flood will compete as an amateur at the tournament and all four rounds will be televised on the Golf Channel.

Flood, a native of Clifton Springs, N.Y., led Mercyhurst during 2006-07, carding an average round of 76.4. He won the prestigious Great Lakes Fall Regional by shooting a 72-69 141 over two rounds. He also took medalist honors at the Edward Jones Shootout, hosted by Carnegie-Mellon, by posting a 73.

As an extension of the PGA Tour, the Nationwide Tour will return to Peak'n'Peak for the sixth year. The top 25 money winners on the Nationwide Tour each year qualify for the PGA Tour. The Peek'n'Peak Classic has a total purse of $600,000, with $108,000 going to the winner of the event.

In 2006, John Merrick won the event, defeating Gavin Coles on the third playoff hole. This year's tournament with featured 156 players, with the field cut to 60, plus ties, after the completion of 36 holes.
