North East, Pa. - The Mercyhurst men's golf team showed extraordinary consistency throughout its lineup and the Lakers managed to finish day one of their own tournament in third place out of five teams Sunday.

All five of Mercyhurst's golfers shot within three strokes of each other, posting scores between 76 and 79, for a team total of 311. However, Findlay had four golfers shoot 73 or better for a 289 total to hold the lead at the halfway point. Gannon finished seven strokes in front of Mercyhurst to place second. Seton Hill is fourth with a 321 and Edinboro is a distant fifth at 338.

Tyler Bidwell led Mercyhurst with a 76, followed by Brendan Flood with a 77. Craig Bishop, Ryan McNulty, and Kyle Waddell all had rounds of 79. Among individuals not counting towards scoring numbers, Pat Henk and Tim Falkner each shot an 84. Ben Deets had an 88 and Matt Mahoney shot a 92.

Mercyhurst will complete its invitational Monday at Lake View Country Club.
